Details

All Resurrection Bay based tours include approximately ½ hour of outfitting  and kayaking instruction prior to launch. We ask that you arrive about 10 minutes prior to trip departure time.

Sunny Cove Sea Kayaking does not provide transportation to this location. Lowell Point is approximately 2-miles (10 minutes) south of Seward by road and can be reached via car or local taxi. Parking for passenger vehicles is available on site. No RV parking is available on Lowell Point. Price does not include taxes and fees. 

Lowell POint State Recreation Area to Tonsina Creek

This is your opportunity to experience the beauty of Seward's Resurrection Bay with its abundant marine life and beautiful mountain glacier vistas on this sea kayaking excursion from Lowell Point. We commonly encounter sea otters, sea birds, harbor seals, bald eagles and leaping salmon. We may stop to take a short walk on the beach and in late summer may land our kayaks along Tonsina Creek to view an active salmon spawning stream. This the perfect trip for those experiencing kayaking for the first time or for those short on time.

Start your day with a quiet morning kayak. Mornings are often calm making this a favorite kayak trip for families. Children 8 and up are welcome to kayak with an adult in our two-person kayaks. *This is the best departure for families with kids!

A delightful way to spend an afternoon in Seward enjoying our local wildlife and beautiful views. Afternoons tend to be breezier than mornings, especially on sunny days. Children 8 and up are welcome to kayak with an adult in our two-person kayaks.

We have two special departures for large groups! We’re pleased to offer a 10% discount for this tour for groups of 8 or more. Our 10am - 1pm tour is appropriate for children 8 years old and up, and our 2pm - 5pm departure is appropriate for children 14 years old and up.

Lowell Point State Recreation to Tonsina Point and Beyond

This family-friendly fully guided sea kayaking and rain forest exploration combo trip is perfect for those who would like time to relax into their surroundings whether it be kayaking to a beautiful waterfall, sitting on washed-up driftwood on the beach or walking through the moss-laden forest. On this trip we commonly encounter sea otters, sea birds, bald eagles and leaping salmon.

We'll paddle the shoreline surrounded by mountains and glacial vistas, gliding through the waters looking for the graceful movements of the harbor porpoise or the industrious sea otters diving for their lunch. We'll explore Tonsina Point with its ghost forest, late-season salmon stream and beautiful mountain views and enjoy picnic lunch and possibly a visit to a waterfall. This excursion includes lunch, beverages and snacks. Children 8 and up are welcome to kayak with an adult in our two-person kayaks.

Lowell Point State Recreation Area to Caines Head State Recreation Area

This trip provides a great opportunity to combine both hiking and sea kayaking for those looking for an active adventure. While kayaking we'll watch for sea otters, sea lions, porpoise, eagles and sea birds.  If time allows, our day will include a hike up to Fort McGilvray, an abandoned subterranean World War II military fort.

After outfitting and instruction we paddle the shoreline of Caines Head State Rec Area. As we kayak, surrounded by mountains and spruce, we’ll watch for wildlife and birds. We’ll enjoy our lunch on shore before beginning our hike to a beautiful waterfall or underground Fort McGilvray. Kids 12 and up are welcome to kayak with an adult in our two-person kayaks.
