An Authentic, Truly Alaskan Experience You'll Never Forget!

Imagine yourself aboard the Point Retreat, our private charter, enjoying a day of incredible marine wildlife viewing combined with sea kayaking through bergy bits near a calving tidewater glacier. Aialik Bay is home to both the amazing Holgate and Aialik Glaciers and on this tour our private charter boat drops us off near one of these glaciers. We will kayak along the rugged coastline through blue-green sea waters and crackling ice as close as .5 mile (.8 kilometer) from the towering face of the glacier. As your paddle dips into the water and 'bergy' bits bump your kayak, the thunder of the calving glacier and gulls calling out overhead will bedazzle your senses.

We know for many of you this trip is on the expensive side and that's why we go out of our way to make sure every penny spent results in a lifetime of memories! Our guides will escort you from our offices to our private charter, The Point Retreat to meet Captain Ken before getting underway. Our boat is fast, and we typically arrive at our destination before any of the larger tour boats arrive. That means we often have the entire area to ourselves while kayaking!

Our day begins at the Seward Boat Harbor where we board our charter boat for the 55-mile trip around the Cape into Aialik Bay and our launch beach. Once on shore we'll spend about a half hour getting you outfitted with kayaking gear and running through basic kayaking instruction on the beach. After instruction, we'll have approximately 3 hours (3-5 miles) of kayaking along the rugged shoreline toward the calving glacier. Along the way, we'll take breaks to immerse ourselves in the sights, sounds and sensations of floating near an actively calving tidewater glacier.

Following our kayaking tour we'll re-board our private charter vessel to seek out whales, sea lions, seals, puffins, killer whales and more for a few hours as we cruise back to Seward. Having a fast, private charter boat means we have lots of time to search for wildlife after we wrap up kayaking. Our typical return time to Seward is 4:30p - 5:00p but is dependent upon wildlife viewing, weather conditions and boat speed.

This is a very popular trip and many dates are close to selling out! Booking early is important as we only have 11 available seats per day. Reservations less than two weeks before trip departure are almost impossible to accommodate.
