Sunny Cove - Season Kick Off!

Hey everyone!

We did it! We opened up shop and started running tours today, after more than two weeks of training, although it’s not very summer like in Seward quite yet. Winter has been holding on for dear life, and we had snowfall at sea level in the last week.

That makes for cold training even in drysuits! Yep, that’s snow falling on our guides during rescue training.

But look at those faces, they are still smiling and having the best time ever. Seriously y’all, this year’s crew is downright amazing! 🤩 I couldn’t ask for a better crew…and I might say that every year, but this year they’re already topping the list. Despite the cold, long days, these people have toughed it out, filling the compound with love and laughter. (okay, I’m getting a little emotional, but I REALLY like everyone this year, and although I’d like to say I always like everyone in my crew, I’m still a human, and some years are tougher than others…but not this year)

Are you local to Seward, Moose Pass or Cooper Landing? Join our Community Week now through May 21st! You can paddle on one of our Resurrection Bay Tours for just $30 (+tax) AND you’ll be helping us support the Seward Community Foundation. We’ll donate $15 from your seat, and we’ll match your donation (up to $2000) and we’ll all help make Seward a stronger community! 😍

Every year we kick off the season with a long standing tradition, Orca Raising (or Orca Racing, depending on who you ask.) Once the orca is in the tree our season has officially begun. The prompt for this photo was ‘pretend you just spotted an orca!’ Russ and Andrew did not understand the assignment. 🤣

See you soon,

Stephanie
