‘Spring’ Update

It’s been a minute since I sent y’all a note! But, I thought of you this morning, as I was planning out our staff training menu. This is the week I start preparing large group meals for the freezer, and when I start to feel a bit like a ‘mom’ to a great big family again. I rarely cook for more than two people, and cooking for 20 takes a lot of work!

Also, it’s really hard to believe I’ll have staff members showing up to start unpacking for the summer in less than a month, with training beginning in about five weeks, and it is even harder to believe our season begins in just 54 days.

Especially when this is the current view out of my home office window! The days are getting longer, but the snow and cold are not quite ready to give up on winter.

But despite winter’s hold, time will do its thing, and staff members and spring will be here in no time. Speaking of staff members, we have more than 70% of last year’s staff returning, including a few long-time diehards, Liz, year 4, Andrew and Cara, year 6, Russ, year 7, Danny, year 11, and Matt and Laurie on year 12. (Retaining really good staff might be a big point of pride…treating staff members well enough that they keep coming back is really important to me.)

We do have one more spot open for a guide! Do you know someone who is fun, and adventurous, has an outdoor leadership background, with a really strong work ethic, who might be a good fit? Send them our way!

That’s all from my desk today. I hope you and yours are well, and that winter might be loosening it’s hold in your neck of the woods! ❄️

Take care,

Stephanie
