Staff Spotlight: Bobby

You will definitely find some interesting people in the world of guiding and Sunny Cove is no exception. We have 11 awesome and professional guides on staff and wanted to take some time to introduce them to you so you know a little bit more about who you may be stuck with :-) First up for our weekly staff spotlight is Bobby! Here's some fun facts about one of the newest members of our crew...

Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri

Favorite Food: Anything free...which happens to be a bunch of chicken packets at the moment.

Favorite TV Show: The Simpsons

Favorite Movie: The Goonies

Favorite Book: Eye of Albatross

Favorite Sports Team: St. Louis Cardinals

Certifications/Degrees: Wilderness First Responder, CPR, Avalanche 1 certification, and Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Sociology

Number one item of bucket list: I want to go to South America and see the rainforests and snowboard in the Andes Mountains. Also would be super stoked to see a polar bear and/or walrus in the wild.

Best Life Experience: Impossible to answer! Snowboarding with friends in the Wasatch Mountains after a foot of snow...or any time spent with my nephew, friends, and family back home...or any day I spend in the wild with my favorite adventure partner...or any day I share with grizzly bears, wolves, mountain lions, seals, whales, sea lions, or sea otters...ahhhhh, too hard to decide.

Best Alaskan Experience: Literally just happened the other day. We came upon a transient orca that was just finishing eating a harbor porpoise and after it was finished, the killer whale came straight towards our boat, swam broadside about 6 feet away from us, and took a breath right next to us so we feel the blow and see every detail of the whale. It was an awesome experience.

Why I love to guide: I love teaching people. I love sharing the outdoors with people and I hope that if people have a fun positive experience outdoors, they will care more about protecting the animals and their ecosystems.

Random fact: I love grizzly bears and worked on a grizzly bear DNA project for two summers in Glacier National Park. Here's a picture of one of my favorite bears.

Personal Statement: "I believe that if we aren't working to make the world a better place then the world is better off without we should all try and improve the world." ~ Bobby
