Lowell Point: Sea kayaking day tours
Experience the beauty of Resurrection Bay, its abundant marine life and beautiful glacial vistas on this Seward kayaking excursion from Lowell Point. On this trip we paddle the shoreline of Caines Head State Recreation Area, where encounter
s with sea otters, sea birds, bald eagles and leaping salmon are common. Paddle your tandem kayak a short way up Tonsina Creek when the tide is high to see hundreds of spawning salmon. We invite you to join us on an Alaskan adventure with a guided three-hour tour or a full-day excursion.
Resurrection Bay: three hour kayaking tours
If you want to experience sea kayaking in this beautiful setting, but have limited time while vacationing in Seward, our three hour guided tours are a great introduction to sea kayaking. We use stable and efficient tandem (two-person) kayaks allowing both novices and aspiring experts to paddle comfortably.
-9:00am to 12:00 pm- Start your day with a quiet morning paddle. Mornings are often calm, making this a favorite paddle for families. Children 8 and up are welcome to paddle with an adult in our two person kayaks.
-1:00 pm to 4:00 pm- A delightful way to spend an afternoon in Seward. Afternoons in Resurrection Bay tend to see a bit more wind, making this a more active paddle. Groups with small children are encouraged to paddle the morning and evening trips. Children 12 and up are welcome to paddle this excursion with an adult in our two person kayaks.
-6:00 pm to 9:00 pm- Enjoy the peacefulness of an Alaskan evening while kayaking in the land of the Midnight Sun. This tour is another excellent option for a family seeking to share adventure with their children. Children 8 and up are welcome to paddle with an adult in our two person kayaks.

Caines Head Paddle and Hike Combo
Experience the beauty of Resurrection Bay and its plentiful marine life on our full day Seward sea kayaking excursion from Lowell Point to Caines Head State Recreation Area. Enjoy a beach side lunch and a hike up to a waterfall, or if the weather permits, to a site overlooking Resurrection Bay.
Our day begins at our Lowell Point shed where we meet and check in at 7:50 am. After outfitting and kayak instruction we paddle the shoreline of Caines Head State Recreation Area. As we paddle quietly, surrounded by mountains and glacial vistas, we watch for sea otters and harbor porpoise. We land midday and enjoy our lunch shore side before beginning our hike to a beautiful waterfall or Fort McGilvray for an overview of Resurrection Bay. This is a great opportunity to combine both hiking and paddling for those looking for adventure. Children 12 and over are welcome on this tour. This is an active day requiring up to 10 miles of paddling and five miles of hiking.

Resurrection Paddle and Hike Combo
This family-friendly excursion explores both Resurrection Bay with a morning paddle and Resurrection River with an afternoon hike. Enjoy a hearty lunch overlooking either Resurrection Bay or Exit Glacier and the Resurrection River.
Our day begins at our Lowell Point shed where we meet and check in at 8:50 am. After outfitting and kayak instruction we paddle the shoreline of Caines Head State Recreation Area. As we paddle quietly, surrounded by mountains and glacial vistas, we watch for sea otters and harbor porpoise. After lunch we board our van for a trip out to the Resurrection River trailhead where we'll hike the river side trail, watching for glimpses of moose, water fowl and Exit Glaicer. This is another great opportunity to combine both hiking and paddling at a more leisurely pace. Children 8 and over are welcome on this tour.

Our three hour and full day excursions include kayaking instruction and equipment, professional guides, rubber boots and dry bags. The full day excursions also includes a lunch and snacks. You do not need to have prior paddling experience, however you do need to be in reasonable shape to enjoy your paddling experience. Sunny Cove provides basic instruction and very stable two-person kayaks. Sunny Cove guides are excellent instructors who enjoy introducing you to kayaking and the natural wonders of the area. Check in time for these excursions is 10 minutes prior to your departure time at the Lowell Point Shed.
