Caines head Sea kayak & hike combo

This trip provides a great opportunity to combine both hiking and sea kayaking for those looking for an active adventure. While kayaking we'll watch for sea otters, sea lions, porpoise, eagles and sea birds.  Our day will include either a hike up to Fort McGilvray, an abandoned subterranean World War II military fort or the exploration of a hidden waterfall. This is an active day including up to 10 miles of kayaking and five miles of hiking with a 650 foot elevation gain and loss.

Departure Times

8:30am - 4:30pm daily

After outfitting and kayak instruction we paddle the shoreline of Caines Head State Recreation Area. As we kayak quietly, surrounded by mountains and glacial vistas, we watch for wildlife and birds.  We land mid-day and enjoy our picnic lunch shore side before beginning our hike to a beautiful waterfall or underground Fort McGilvray for an overview of Resurrection Bay. This excursion includes lunch, beverages and snacks. Children 12 and up are welcome to kayak with an adult in our two-person kayaks.
