RESURRECTION BAY KAYAKING: Lowell Point State Recreation Area to Tonsina Point
Experience the beauty of Seward's Resurrection Bay with its abundant marine life and beautiful mountain glacier vistas on this sea kayaking excursion from Lowell Point. On this trip we commonly encounter sea otters, sea birds, harbor seals, bald eagles and leaping salmon. We may stop to take a short walk on the beach and in late summer may land our kayaks along Tonsina Creek to view an active salmon spawning stream.

Our fully guided tour begins just two miles south of Seward at our Lowell Point launch where we meet and check in 15 minutes before trip time. We'll then spend the next half hour getting you outfitted with paddling gear and running through basic kayaking instruction on the beach. After our instruction, we'll have about 2.5 hours (2-3 miles) of kayaking along the shoreline of Resurrection Bay.
8am - 11am
Start your day with a quiet morning kayak. Mornings are often calm making this a favorite kayak trip for families. Children 8 and up are welcome to kayak with an adult in our two-person kayaks.
12pm - 3pm
A delightful way to spend an afternoon in Seward enjoying our local wildlife and beautiful views. Children 8 and up are welcome to kayak with an adult in our two-person kayaks.
4pm - 7pm
Late afternoons in Resurrection Bay tend to see a bit more wind making this a more active tour. Groups with small children are encouraged to kayak the morning and early afternoon trips. Children 12 and up are welcome to kayak with an adult in our two-person kayaks.

All Resurrection Bay Tours include approximately ½ hour of outfitting and kayaking instruction and approximately 2 1/2 hours and 2-3 miles of kayaking including a possible beach walk. Sunny Cove Sea Kayaking does not provide transportation to Lowel. Lowell Point is approximately 2-miles south of Seward by road and can be reached via car or local taxi. Parking for passenger vehicles is available on site. No RV parking is available on Lowell Point. *Pogies and rain wear are available on an as needed basis.
